Roboni i Robot toy

The rise of robotic gaming! The brief was to design a body shell for a small radio controlled robot toy. This body shell must, among other things too numerous to mention, allude to the toys sophisticated electronics as well as having a futuristic look to it while at the same time not looking cliche. After researching styling trends from a fairly broad field which included mobile phones and sci-fi movies we were able to distil our ideas into a few more defined routes.

The goal was to integrate all the requirements of the brief in a sensible manor. After that the challenge was to come up with a pleasing shape which could 'live' around all the components and still not look cliche. As can be seen by the pictures many concepts were brought up to presentation quality and the volume of work far exceeded what was originally budgeted for, all that really didn't matter though because it was an entirely enjoyable project.

This toy hit the shelves just in time for the holidays in 2009, the images of the final product (images 5-7) are courtesy of Greg Cook who was also involved in the project. As you can see he does incredible 3D imaging, as well as motion graphics and a host of other digital content. Go have a look at his page here and the Robonica official site here
